Free Traffic Sources

Top 4 Free Traffic Sources for 2020 and 2021

If you have been around internet marketing for any length of time, you will know that traffic is the lifeblood of any internet initiative. You simply need traffic in order to be successful. In this article, I will share the top 4 free traffic sources you can make use of to start driving traffic to your web property.

My top sources of free traffic on the internet are Google, YouTube, Pinterest, and Facebook groups. Pinterest and Facebook are the easiest to do and will get you results faster than the other 2. Google and YouTube will however give you the steadiest and more consistent traffic in the long term.

There are paid and free sources of traffic available to you today. Paid traffic will get you the quickest results but also carries a higher level of risk. You can easily lose money because it takes a bit of time to master until you start making a profit.

My advice is that you start with free traffic sources then only get into paid traffic once you start making enough money to do so. When you master aid ads, it definitely makes things faster and easier.

Now, let’s look at my top 4 free traffic sources.

Facebook Groups

Facebook has been a great source of traffic over the years until they changed their algorithm. It’s now virtually a waste of time to work with Facebook as a traffic source unless you are using a group. At this point in time, groups are being pushed by Facebook.

They want people to engage in groups and will help promote and grow your group for free. You can approach groups from 2 angles. You can do it as a member of an existing group or start your own. The basic premise is to give as much free value as possible so that you build trust and authority.

You want people to view you as someone who genuinely wants to help others out. You can do this by answering questions on other people’s groups and periodically offer your links as more holistic solutions to their problems.

Google TrafficMake sure that whenever you do offer help, it’s in a natural way that does not look spammy. You need to carry out a genuine conversation with them and when the opportunity to send to post your link arises, you will recognize it.

If you are starting your own group, offer free value on a regular basis, and periodically send out links to your blog articles, for example. What you want is to build a community around your chosen subject.

This method will bring the quickest results of all the methods described in this article. It however requires a high level of dedication and consistency if you want to keep seeing results.

Pinterest

I will admit that I was late to the party as far as Pinterest is concerned. I only found out about this traffic source 2 years ago. I’ve had a Pinterest account for well over 10 years but I hardly ever used it.

It was only while researching traffic sources for my blog that I discovered Pinterest. I wrote an article on the Pinterest ClickBank Method where I share a method of driving free targeted and consistent traffic from Pinterest faster than I could from other traffic sources.

Pinterest is dominated by women and a large chunk of their traffic is from tier 1 countries which makes it very profitable. If you are promoting content that appeals to this demography then this is definitely something you should pursue.

I will talk about YouTube and Google traffic later on but Pinterest will get you great results in as little as one month while it can take 6 to 8 months with search engines.

Technically, Pinterest is a search engine too. It’s an image search engine. This means that the images you upload (known as pins) will rank over time and can remain at the top of this search engine for quite some time.

If you do it the right way, you can start getting traffic pretty quickly. It’s not uncommon to get 5,000 to 10,000 page views in your first month and this figure generally climbs up with time.

YouTube

YouTube is another great source of traffic which can get your great results and faster than you can from Google. If you already have a blog and create a YouTube channel that links to it, you can get a really good flow of traffic to it.

This can speed up your results and give you an additional way to monetize your content. YouTube is great for a number of reasons. The first one is due to the fact that the barrier to entry is slightly higher because people don’t have the expertise.

Another reason is that people are not confident enough to get in front of the camera. These reasons make it less competitive than trying to rank in the search engines.

If you want to succeed with YouTube, the secret is to conduct proper keyword research and try to model top-performing videos in your niche. Take note that I did not say copy. Make the effort to see what is working and then putting your own spin on it so that it appears as legitimately good content.

When you are starting a new channel, create about 10 to 14 videos that you post on a daily basis, and then switch to once or twice a week after that. YouTube loves consistency. The first burst of regular posts is designed to get the algorithm’s attention.

You can then settle into a less hectic, regular posting schedule going forward.

Google

Lastly, let’s look at the big G. This is the holy grail of traffic. If you can master this, you will definitely be able to make it online. Google is, by far, the most difficult platform to get traffic from. It takes about 6 to 8 months for a new website to start ranking.

Once it does start ranking though, you will have a steady flow of traffic for months or even years. When it comes to Google, you want to go for low competition keywords that have decent amounts of traffic.

You create content around these keywords. When they start to rank and your site gains authority, you will also begin to rank for other keywords you weren’t specifically targeting. This translates to more traffic for you.

You want to create good quality content which is better than what is being offered on the internet. If you can conduct research from independent sources not on the internet, you will rank much faster than some regurgitating what’s already out there.

Google traffic is the ultimate because it generally converts well and chances are, you will be able to make passive income for a long time.

Conclusion

There are a lot of traffic sources available to you today but if you want consistent results from the effort you put in, the 4 traffic sources mentioned in this article are my highest rated.
